At Boston Body Pilates Belmont, we’re always looking for ways to deepen your practice, honor the tradition of Pilates, and keep every workout fresh and challenging. This fall, we’re upgrading our reformers with two exciting new additions: Balanced Body Plank Bars and Roll Handles.
Plank Bars: 8 New Variations for Strength & Alignment
Plank Bars are a game-changer when it comes to building strength and adding variety to your workouts. These Balanced Body accessories insert directly into the footbar end of the reformer with contour handles designed for comfort and optimal wrist alignment.
With 8 different positioning options—high, low, wide, narrow, or even staggered— Plank Bars allow you to explore endless plank variations that fire up the core, shoulders, and arms. The smaller cushioned grips help you stack your wrist directly under your shoulder for safe, powerful alignment.
At Belmont, we love honoring the tradition of each exercise while still finding ways to push the work forward. These Plank Bars will let you do just that, and you’ll start seeing them integrated across all class formats very soon!

Roll Handles: Back to Pilates Roots
Starting October 13th, we’re also introducing new handles and loops to our equipment. These are more than just accessories—they’re a return to the roots of Pilates.
Joseph Pilates (who originally called his method Contrology) emphasized the importance of using closed fists in many exercises. Later, dancers adapted Pilates with long, extended fingers to suit their aesthetic—but research and experience show that a closed fist is actually far more functional.
Why? Because it builds grip strength, forearm endurance, and shoulder stability, all of which are crucial for full-body strength and better posture. Your hands are not an afterthought in Pilates—they’re an essential part of connecting your body to the movement.
We can’t wait for you to experience how Roll Handles elevate your practice and strengthen your foundation.
What This Means for You
Both of these upgrades—Plank Bars and Roll Handles—are designed to challenge you in new ways, improve functional strength, and help you move with better alignment and control.
You’ll start seeing them rolled out across classes, and our instructors will be there to guide you every step of the way. Get ready for an exciting new chapter in your Pilates journey with us!
